Print file preparation
Here are our recommendations for file preparation.
PRINT FILE TYPE
We accept PDF files with bleeds (3mm).
If you have several designs / labels, we recommend to put each label / design in separate pdf file.
CUTLINES
Cutline should be in file, in Spot color named “Cut" with an enabled Overprint setting. Important objects and text should be positioned at a safe distance from the Cutline, preferably 3mm. Please no “stroke outlining”!
COLOR MANAGEMENT
File must be in the CMYK color space. You can control the number of colors in the Separation Preview panel in a work file or through Adobe Acrobat. Use ISOCoated_v2_300_eci profile in color management settings.
Please do not use pantone colors.
IMAGE RESOLUTION
The colour and grayscale images require a resolution of 300 dpi. Minimum 150 dpi. Bitmap images resolution require 1200 dpi. If the resolution is lower, then pictures will be grainy. Please keep total ink limit under 300%.
ARTBOARD & PAGE SETUPS
Page size (Artboard, Page Setup) should match the desired size of the finished product. The same applies to irregular shapes (Die-cut). Graphic objects that go to the edge of the cutline need to be 3mm over final size (make bleeds). When saving a file, turn on the Bleed option – 3mm.
Printing blacks. Black text should be only in Black color (C0; M0; Y0; K100). Large black areas, but not texts, to provide a sufficient color density are recommended to be painted in the color C30; M30: Y30; K100.
TEXT OBJECTS
All text objects should be outlined (Outlines, Curves), if possible. Text objects in photoshop will be rasterized. If photoshop image resolution is 300 dpi then text objects will be rasterized with the same resolution and will look pixelated.
TRIM MARKS
Trim marks can be shown in file, but they should be at least 2mm from the edges of the product (in Adobe Illustrator, Offset setting).
WHITE BACKGROUND WHEN PRINTING ON SILVER OR TRANSPARENT LABEL MATERIAL
To print white background: all white objects must be in spot color “White”, overprint “ON" and in front of CMYK image in the same page. To make designing easier you can out white objects in separate layer, so you can switch it off and on to check.
